Megan Marod (Tzeitel) is thrilled to be participating in her second VLOG show. She has been performing (and loving it) her entire life, from her local community center, to Interlochen Arts Camp, to the Edinburgh and New York Fringe Festivals, to the University of Michigan where she earned a B.A. in History. In addition to performing, she created and participated in a directing internship with the Royal Shakespeare Company and worked as assistant director to Trevor Nunn and Marcia Milgrom Dodge. Megan is a firm believer in happily ever after. Thank you to everyone for coming and supporting the arts!
Katie Michalek (Hodel) is proud to be performing again with VLOG in such a wonderful show. She earned her Bachelor of Music from NYU and has since performed in regional theater, cabaret, on film – and as a voice teacher. Favorite past productions include: The Sound of Music, A Funny Thing…, Three Postcards, Oklahoma!, Ragtime. Thanks to Tony, Debbie, and all for the hard work that went into pulling this production together!
Stephanie Haring (Chava) a graduate of AMDA, is excited to appear in her first VLOG production. Stephanie has performed with many theatre groups from her South Jersey roots to her new NYC home. Favorite roles include Winifred in Once Upon A Mattress, Eve in Children of Eden, and Rusty in Footloose. Thanks to her family and friends for believing in her and keeping her sane. Love to the fatties and her hetero life mate.
Mia Pumo (Shprintze) is enjoying her first time on stage, and she is really excited. She’s happy because her Mom and Grandma are in the show with her. Mia wants to thank her Dad for all his support, and she’d like to welcome all her friends and family who made it to the show, especially her classmates and teachers from BHMS.
Evelyn Lazen (Bielke), 9, has been performing in her living room since she could hold a pretend microphone. This Spring, she wrote an avant garde play entitled "The Curse" in which she performs and plays the recorder. She wants to be a dog trainer when she grows up.
Alan Rosenfeld (Lazar Wolf) is happy to once again be performing in Fiddler. He is dedicating this performance to the memories of his mother and father who taught him a love for all things musical and instilled in him a deep appreciation of the Arts. Previously he has appeared in many community theater productions playing such diverse characters as Dwight Babcock in Mame, Sheridan Whiteside in The Man Who Came To Dinner and Tevye in Fiddler On the Roof. A 1976 graduate of the NYU Tisch School of Film and Television, he is currently employed by The Studio at B&H as a Sales Consultant of Broadcast Technologies and is still living ecstatically happily ever after in Brooklyn with the love of his life, Leslie Ross.
Abby S. Kurnit (Yente) joined VLOG in 1972 along with her husband, VLOG President Jeffrey Kurnit. Since then, they have assumed a variety of roles both on and offstage. Their two children and their daughter’s fiancé have also participated in several productions and summer projects. In 2005 Abby retired from the Pelham School District after 35 years of teaching HS Science. She now edits a newsletter for the Westchester section of Science Teachers of NY State, supervises science student teachers for Pace University and writes questions for the NY State Biology Regents Exam. She likes to say she is not really retired, just “tired.” Fiddler is a show that Abby has wanted to do for a long time – Grandma Fannie, this one’s for you!!!
Brian Pelaccio (Motel), originally from Peekskill, NY, is thrilled to make his VLOG debut in Fiddler. Last year Brian made an appearance in the NYC premier of Alternative Theatre Company’s Dirty Secrets. Favorite credits include …Frog and Toad (Snail), The Wizard of Oz (Tinman), Me and My Girl (Sir Jasper). Brian would like to thank Tony, Debbie, and everyone involved for this opportunity. L'chaim!
David Kurnov (Perchik) is happy to be performing in his third show with VLOG. When not playing a communist agitator, Dave works as a financial engineer for Moody's Analytics.
Leo Lopez (Mordcha) is a pediatric cardiologist at the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore and happy to be in his 2nd VLOG show. Recent shows include Music Man (Marcellus), Guys & Dolls (Benny Southstreet), Company (Paul), Noises Off (Frederick), Cabaret (Cliff), Lend Me a Tenor (Max), and Man of La Mancha (Padre).
Barry Mastellone (Rabbi/Props) is happy to return for his ninth VLOG show. More thrilling: it’s his first show with more than one line and even a “bissel” solo. A retired NYC teacher and administrator, Barry fills his life with his love for theater and concerts, his two daughters (Genna: thanks for the Hebrew lessons), and his heartthrob, Judi. He thanks his family and friends for their support.
Sam Sultan Sultan (Mendel) is a new member of VLOG and is thrilled to be working with such a wonderful group. Sam's credits include Pontius Pilate in Jesus Christ Superstar, Javert in Les Miserables, and most recently, Young Ebeneezer in BCT's production of A Christmas Carol. Sam recently starred in Fuga, a new opera conceived by Julliard Graduate student Burak Ozdemir, originating the role of Daniel. Look for Sam in Kimber Road, written by Harold Lerner, on May 25th, in which he will be originating the role of David.
Harry Schutz (Avram) is happy to be celebrating over a quarter century and 35 shows with VLOG. By day, Harry can be found reprising his role of Assistant Principal at The International High School at LaGuardia Community College with an amazing ensemble of students and staff.
Trey Sandusky (Nahum the beggar) hasn’t missed a VLOG stage production since joining in 2006, playing everything from courtiers (Merry Widow, Mikado) to cowpokes (Oklahoma), apprentices (Scrooge & G & S) to anvil salesmen (Music Man) to astronauts (Starship Pinafore), gangsters (Kiss Me Kate) to ghosts (Ruddigore). In June, Trey will be singing O! Canada! and The Star Spangled Banner at the East Coast Roller Derby Extravaganza in Philadelphia. Then, in July, Trey will be touring Mexico with the New York Choral Society. Don’t Nahum til you’ve tried ’em!
Jen MacNeil (Grandma Tzeitel) is a freelance writer with a Master’s in Journalism and a craving for the unusual. She has been a tube vocalist for Blue Man Group,” a contestant on Who Wants to be a Millionaire, and a movie extra, and maintains the blog, In the New, which detailed her quest to do one new thing every day for an entire year.
Jessica Stewart (Fruma Sarah) is thrilled to be performing with VLOG. A recent transplant to NYC she has been involved with the theater world since the age of 9. In 2005 she graduated with a vocal performance degree from the Royal Northern College of Music in England. Favorite roles include: Leila (Iolanthe), Lizzie (Baby), Domina (Forum), and Lidia (Runaways). She would like to thank her parents for their undying support, for none of this would be possible without you!
Larry Schneider Constable) appeared in a number of VLOG shows including Carousel, Bells are Ringing, Ruddigore, Call Me Madame and numerous VLOG concerts. Recently Larry sang the part of Richard Henry Lee in a VLOG benefit concert. Larry is happy to be back in Anatevka after a 25 year absence having visited the village as Motel the Tailor and Perchik.
Joe Bliss (Fyedka) is originally from Syracuse, NY. He graduated from Colgate University with a BA in Music and Computer Science and currently works for a corporate production company in Manhattan. This is his first New York credit, and he couldn't be more thrilled for this experience. He would like to thank his family and friends, the cast, crew, and everyone at VLOG for their support.
Patricia Shay (Shaindel/Props) is getting into the habit of playing old Jewish ladies! (Audiences may remember her as Belle in My Favorite Year). She was also Eulalie in Music Man, one of the wives in Merry Widow (twice), and star of the ensemble in countless productions. This is Patty’s 32nd year with VLOG. Paul Szent-Miklosy (Fiddler) plays bass guitar in an art-punk-glam-animal music band called Future In Plastics (www.myspace.com/futureinplastics). When he's not playing out in the Lower East Side or Williamsburg, you can find him making hearts in your latte at Think Coffee on the Bowery. Son of met 'n' married's Karen Taylor and Balint Szent- Miklosy, he is carrying the torch in his second show with VLOG! Oliver Thrun (Sasha/Featured Dancer) is a resident actor/writer at Theater for the New City and a member of the Dramatists Guild of America. His play, Adam of the Apes, will be produced this fall by Haberdasher Theatre.
Tim Hall (Yussel) is delighted to be performing with VLOG a second time. Tim enjoyed treading the boards last fall as a crewman in Starship Pinafore. Tim hails from Australia where he performed roles in Les Miserables, Pirates of Penzance, Big River and Guys 'n Dolls. Tim teaches 5th grade at the UN School and revels in directing and producing musicals with his enthusiastic students.
Paul Caron (Russian Tenor) credits his devotion to performing to his grandfather who used to sing and dance across the lumber camps of rural Quebec to provide for his family. It is his parents, however, that he can thank for a blessed and lucky life. His performance is dedicated to them.

Koji Ohashi (Featured Dancer) is originally from Kyoto, Japan, where he was working as an actor in Universal Studios, Japan. He studied acting full-time at HB studio in NY. His other theatre credits include Miss Saigon, Christmas Revels, CoMotion and more.
Michael Bultman (Featured Dancer) is very excited to be participating in his seventh consecutive VLOG production and second production with Tony. When not VLOG-ing, he enjoys making pharmaceuticals and road biking. To Laura: who simply makes life more spectacular.
Tom Frueh (Featured Dancer) has performed on New York and regional stages in musicals, plays, revues, one-man shows, cabarets, concerts and ballets. Most recent roles include Hortensio in Kiss Me Kate, Drosselmeyer in The Nutcracker and Joe Boyd in Damn Yankees. He has written and performed two one-man shows, After the Show with the Man Who Owned Broadway (as George M. Cohan) and the one-man musical Houdini.

Becca Shimkin (Ensemble/Box Office Manager) is excited to be back for her third appearance with VLOG. A graduate from New York University with a Bachelor’s of Music in Vocal Performance, her favorite shows have included roles in 110 in the Shade, The Taffetas, She Loves Me, A Funny Thing…Forum, and of course The Mikado and Starship Pinafore with VLOG. Thanks to the cast and crew for making this such a great show, to mom for not making her sew (really this time), and to Chuy for listening to all my rehearsal stories.
Cameron Ocasio (Children’s Ensemble) is only 10 Years old and began acting two years ago after winning first runner-up for child actor of the year in the annual IMTA convention in New York. He is represented by Shirley Grant Management and his film/television credits include When in Rome, Kiddie Ride, Father's Day, Gossip Girl, Human Giant and Sesame Street. Besides acting he can also break-dance, has a black belt in karate, and is currently taking Jiu Jitsu.
Caridad Cano (Children’s Ensemble) is in 7th grade, and this is her 2nd VLOG show. She is in the Advanced Regents Program in Middle School 210 in Queens. She sings and plays the guitar and is also in the school choir. She would love to thank her family and friends for support.

Claire Procopio (Ensemble) is a scholarship graduate of the Julliard School of Music. She has performed at Radio City Music Hall, Paper Mill Playhouse, Town Hall and Carnegie Hall. She has sung with the Amato Opera Co. and the other area opera groups. She dedicates this show to her supportive family and her beloved grandchildren, Mia and Gabriel. In Fiddler, her fifth show with VLOG, she will be sharing the stage with her daughter, Vanessa, and her granddaughter, Mia, who is playing Shprintze.
Colleen Stewart (Ensemble) is the music teacher at a high performing charter school in Harlem. She is a Minnesota native who moved to New York City this past summer. This is her New York theater debut.
Denise Burton (Ensemble) is thrilled to perform with VLOG for the third time after making her debut in The Mikado in 2008 and playing Hattie in Kiss Me Kate in 2009. She is a Masters graduate from Brooklyn College Conservatory of Music and still performs in small, operatic ensembles throughout New York City and beyond. Diane Goldstein Temkin (Ensemble) is thrilled to be back in VLOG after an 18-year hiatus. Thanks to the directors, husband Barry, and daughters Hannah & Rebecca for their support. She dedicates this performance to the memory of her grandparents who survived shtetl life, Sarah & Solomon and Ida & Isidore.
Geoffrey Horlick (Ensemble) appeared with VLOG in Kiss Me Kate (2009) and in The Song of Norway (1983), where he met and married Sally Sherwood. Their daughter, Annie, is now finishing her sophomore year of college. An accounting professor for more than forty years, Geoffrey is a passionate devotee of musical theater.
Gianna Ocasio (Children’s Ensemble) is only eight years old and enjoys acting and print work. She has been following the footsteps of her brother Cameron who also appears in this musical play. Film/print work credits include Motherhood and a print ad for Nordstroms. She is represented by Shirley Grant Management. Besides acting, she studies the art of karate and Jiu Jitsu.
Jackson Stenborg (Children’s Ensemble), age 10, played the pageboy in Falstaff, Prince Mamillius in A Winters Tale, has done short films, been a BYCA chorister, played Taiko Drums, had artwork at the Guggenheim, plays soccer and violin and dances ballroom. This is his first musical. Thanks VLOG!
Jacob Lazen (Children’s Ensemble), 13, started acting two years ago with VLOG as Tiny Tim in Scrooge & Gilbert & Sullivan. Since then, he performed in Shakespeare's Comedy of Errors and Mame, while living in Mexico. He is an avid rock sculptor and collector, skateboarder, and foreign film enthusiast.
Janet Painter (Ensemble), long time VLOG member and nice Catholic girl, says her husband, when they first met, always wished that she could be a nice Jewish girl. Well David, you've got your wish (sort of)!
Jennie Mescon (Ensemble) is pleased to make her Village Light Opera debut under the direction of Tony Spinosa and the VLOG creative team. A native Iowan, Ms. Mescon has performed with theatre companies in Colorado and Upstate New York, and toured with the Midwest Premiere of The Musical of Musicals as June.
Jessica Giannone (Ensemble) is enjoying her first production with VLOG. She previously played Dunyasha in The Cherry Orchard at the Triangle Theatre and Carol in At Home at The Workshop at Williamstown Theatre Festival. Jessica recently graduated from The Savannah College of Art and Design. Some SCAD roles include Julie in Carousel and Adelaide in Guys and Dolls.

Linnea Stenborg (Children’s Ensemble) age 6, is a dual French language student at PS 58 and an amazing artist who draws constantly. She's thrilled to be in Fiddler with her big brother. Linnea has brightened the stage at dance recitals and in the Juilliard opera, Falstaff.
Marcia Pehr (Ensemble) marks a quarter century with VLOG. A veteran of numerous productions—first as techie, then as performer—Dr. Marcia prescribes VLOG for fast, fast relief from her ER day job.
Margaret Cremin (Ensemble) is thrilled to appear in her second VLOG show! When not kneading challah or spreading Yente's rumors, Margaret works for a media company and is excited to head back to school soon. Much love to all her supporters! L'chaim!
Megan Cano (Children’s Ensemble) is excited to be performing on her first show with VLOG. She's a 3rd grader in the Forest Park School in Queens. She's learning to play guitar and loves to sing and play chess. Megan would love to thank her family and friends for their continued support.

Raouf Zaidan (Ensemble) Egyptian baritone Raouf Zaidan studied in London and Boulder, Colorado. He specializes in the operas of Gilbert & Sullivan and those of Mozart in Arabic translation. He was double cast with the great John Reed as Lord Chancellor in Iolanthe. His next production is The Magic Flute in which he will be Papageno. Raouf teaches singing at NYU.
Robert Cliffton (Ensemble/Wigs & Make-Up) is ecstatic to be making his VLOG debut in this classic show. He is a recent graduate of the cosmetology program at The Aveda Institute NY and holds a BA in Musical Theatre from Point Park University. Recent credits include Kate Pazakis’s cabaret Tomorrow at the Duplex, The Beadle in Sweeney Todd and Mr. Mayor in Seussical.
Ryan Gamilo (Children’s Ensemble) is currently in seventh grade at Saint Francis Xavier School. He loves to sing and play piano which he has been doing since he was three years old. His favorite subject is math. He first appeared with VLOG in our production of Scrooge & Gilbert & Sullivan. He is planning to go to LaGuardia High School of the Arts for piano and singing.
Vanessa Procopio Pumo (Ensemble) is thrilled to be along for the ride on this tri-generational VLOG family adventure with Mom and daughter, Mia. Vernon Bruette (Ensemble) has been singing with VLOG for seventeen years. He has sung in about forty shows, ten oratorios, and fifty choral concerts. Obviously, he loves singing. Last year, he was honored with Life Membership in VLOG.

Tony Spinosa (Stage Director and Choreographer) has directed and/or choreographed dramas, comedies and musicals on both coasts, and is most noted for his remounting of the classics: Cats, West Side Story, Anything Goes, Oliver, Fiddler on the Roof and Kiss Me Kate. Regional productions include The King & I, Fame: the musical, To Kill A Mockingbird, The Music Man, Broadway Bound, Biloxi Blues, Brighton Beach Memoirs, Oliver, Hair, and Hello Dolly. Tony is the recipient of the 2001 AriZoni Theatre Award of Excellence for his chorography for West Side Story, and the 2006 Arizona STAR Award for his production of Cats in Phoenix, Arizona. He is the only director to receive 2 Golden Pineapple Awards for his work with the International Cringe Festival in New York City for his 2008 production of Charlie Chang and the Mysterious Salami, and his 2009 production of Is That a Spear In Your Pocket? Amy Tietz (Producer) is producing her 8th or 9th show since 2001(She lost count). In the recent past, she served as President and helped find our new home in Tribecca. In previous decades she has been on stage, served on the VLOG board, chaired several committees, and served on many others. None of this could have happened without the support of her longtime VLOG friends and her favorite guys, Mike and Ben.
Laura Bultman (Stage Manager) is part sweet children’s librarian, part tyrannical dictator, two designations that prepare her for stage management by requiring order and obedience (although she has yet to say “shhh” in either location). She is grateful to VLOG for giving her their trust and a headset, to Amy for jumping in to the fray, to Mike for never failing to make her life better, and to Tony for always requiring her best. It’s been a privilege to give it.
Steve Esposito (Set Designer and Technical Director) is in Marketing at a global technology company, where he spends his workday creating spreadsheets, systems, and synergies. He therefore enjoys working with VLOG during his free time, where he creates more tangible and artistic (if somewhat less profitable) things like set pieces and scenery.
Maggie Mahony (Costume Designer) is pleased to be designing costumes for her second VLOG production, her first boldly taking on costumes for Starship Pinafore! She has been designing, creating, and altering costumes for many productions/years. Originally from Tarrytown, NY, she now resides in ‘warm’ Milford, NH. During the day she is the Controller for DevTech Labs in Amherst, NH, but at night, in addition to sewing and other crafts, she enjoys singing and is a Cantor/Choir member at Saint Patrick’s in Milford, NH. Marisa Merliss (Assistant Choreographer) is delighted and honored to be working with VLOG and Tony Spinosa again after appearing as a featured dancer in Kiss Me Kate and Dream Laurey in Oklahoma! Since then she's played Diane Lorimer in 42nd Street and has been keeping busy working as a fitness model and Pediatric RN. Michael is VLOG’s longest-running rehearsal pianist, having played for 24 shows since joining the group in 1995. On-stage appearances with VLOG include Scrooge & Gilbert & Sullivan (Bob Cratchit), The Music Man (Oliver Hix), and Princess Ida (Guron).
